I have notes that have become invalid. What do I do?

You can exchange your banknotes in several ways. Please note that there are different deadlines:

  • You can still pay with the banknotes that will become invalid in shops or deposit them in your bank account until 31 May 2025.

  • From 2 December 2024 until 31 May 2026, you can exchange the banknotes at one of Danmarks Nationalbank's three banknote exchange points operated by FOREX in Aarhus, Odense and Copenhagen.

Private individuals can exchange up to kr. 5,000 to new banknotes. You can also choose to have the money deposited in your bank account. If you hand in more than kr. 5,000 the money will be transferred to your bank account. If you hand in money on behalf of a company, it will always be transferred to the company's bank account.

You must always bring a completed exchange form and documentation regardless of whether you wish to exchange to new banknotes or have them deposited to your bank account. See the top of the page for amount limits, deadlines and what documentation you need to bring.
