Danmarks Nationalbank has decided that the maximum amount that can be exchanged is kr. 5,000. This is primarily due to the risk of money laundering, which increases as the amount increases.

If you have more than kr. 5,000, the amount will be transferred to your bank account. You need to fill out a form and bring documentation before you arrive at the banknote exchange point. Read more about forms and documentation requirements here.
