Can I exchange my Danish cash for foreign currency?

No. You can only exchange the banknotes for Danish kroner.

Private individuals can exchange kr. 5,000 for new banknotes. If you hand in more than kr. 5,000 the money will be transferred to your bank account in Danish kroner by Danmarks Nationalbank.

If you are a company, the value of the banknotes will always be transferred to your company bank account.

Please note that Danmarks Nationalbank always transfers the submitted amount one-to-one in Danish kroner. When transferring to a foreign account, your bank may charge a fee for receiving the funds as well as for converting the amount into a currency that your bank can accept. Such currency conversion may involve fees, which will be deducted from the transferred amount.
