How to send money with Western Union
Depending on the agent's opening hours and differences in time zones, the money is reaches it's destination in just a few minutes. Payments are usually made in local currency. Here's how to send money with Western Union, step by step.
Find nearest FOREX
Go to your nearest FOREX. They are all Western Union agents.
Show picture ID
Show your picture ID* to the cashier. A valid picture ID must always be shown for all Western Union transactions. See below which picture ID, FOREX does accept. Before the transaction is proceeded, you will need to pay the total amount of the transaction, including the fee.
* FOREX accepts passport from all countries, national ID-card from Schengen countries, Nordic drivers’ license and Danish residence permit. Citizens living in Denmark must also bring the yellow health insurance card.
Download Western Union app
Make Western Union transactions easier, and download WU APP, in App Store (Iphone) or Google Play (Android). You can use the app to fill out in advance the receivers’ name, the amount of the transaction and the purpose of the transaction. When you are ready with this, you can visit one of FOREX shops and pay for the transaction.
Transaction is carried out
The transaction is proceeded and registered in Western Union Money Transfer System.
Receipt with control number created
After a couple of minutes, the transaction is completed. You will receive a receipt with a 10-digit control number (MTCN). Depending on the agent's opening hours and differences in time zones, the receiver will now be able to receive the funds. The sender just needs to send the 10-digit control number to the receiver.
Receiver can pick up funds
The receiver will then be able to go visit a Western Union agent to receive his funds. Remember that the receiver also will need to show a valid picture ID in order to receive the funds.
